My first memories of drawing go back to trying to watch my older brother draw, which of course he’d never let me do. I had no idea I was going to be a visual artist, and except for a few fluke scribbles in primary school nothing much came out until I started doing drugs which busted the flood gates. This started me sculpting, and I drew all the time whether I had an idea or not, to ignore school or suppress paranoia, whatever. That kind of thing has limited sustainability, and it ruined me for Med. School.
Drawings are essentially honest and straightforward and I think it’s unfortunate that they often go unseen unless they are by the dead and famous.
I often draw sculptures and the frameworks of my paintings.
I would like to return to intaglio someday and learn silkscreen printing. |
